Our story

Bringing Cuban salsa to Woolwich

Salsa Greenwich started with a simple idea: the hardest part of a first salsa class isn't the footwork, it's walking into a room and not knowing anyone. So we built the whole night around solving that first — proper Cuban Rueda de Casino, taught from first principles, in a room full of people who are exactly as new to it as you are.

We're based in Woolwich, SE London — bringing a style of salsa that's social by design. Rueda de Casino is danced in a circle, with couples rotating and swapping constantly, which means you're never stuck with one partner and never left standing alone. It's built for meeting people, not just for dancing.

Community first

Every Wednesday is as much about the room as it is about the routine. We run icebreakers before class starts, encourage people to come solo, and make sure nobody's a spectator for long. Beginners dance next to regulars. Regulars remember what it felt like to walk in for the first time.

Confidence, not perfection

You don't need rhythm, experience, or a partner to start. What we teach is built to get you moving and having fun in your first class, then layer in the technique as you come back. Progress here is measured in confidence as much as in steps learned.

Salsa Greenwich is homegrown — run for the community, by the community, one Wednesday at a time.
